insomnia and holes in the ground

IT'S TWO IN THE MORNING AND I CAN'T SLEEP.
so i am blessing you all with another blog post- i know i know. contain your enthusiasm.

this past week i flew out to the beautiful scottsdale, AZ to visit my boyfriend, brian. the whole trip was amazing! he picked me up from the airport and we drove out to his dad's cabin. we went off roading until we found a beautiful stream with an equally beautiful waterfall! we spent the afternoon swimming in the freezing water and then laying out on the hot rocks! the next morning we woke up bright and early and drove 3 1/2 hours to the one and only grand canyon!!! it was amazing. going to the grand canyon has always been on my bucket list and i was over the hill ecstatic when i found out we'd be going. this sounds ridiculous because i know the grand canyon is sort of famous for being so large... but i had no idea that it would be THAT big!! it was HUGE! but it was also breathtaking :) the whole trip was absolutely wonderful! here are some pictures from the trip... hope you enjoy!

our new pup

A few weeks ago, my mom (an avid animal rescuer) received a phone call from the local animal shelter in Edmond. The shelter asked my mom if she would be willing to foster a 2 year old golden retriever/german shepherd mix named Trixie until the shelter was able to find a home for her. Trixie had been adopted in August of 2011 but was returned a few months later in terrible condition- Trixie had been very badly abused. My mother, not being one to turn down in animal in need, of course accepted the offer and Trixie came to live with us on Sunday, May 13th- Mother's Day!
It didn't take long for Trixie to warm her way into our hearts and we're now finding it harder and harder to part with her... which will probably result in our family permanently adopting her :) We have since then renamed her to Annie and we think she is here to stay. Annie is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever come across and it breaks my heart to think some one could ever hurt her!
This is a picture of Annie and my sister, Kimmi, the day we brought her home!

little brother's graduation

This past Saturday, May 19, my little brother, Ryan, graduated from Edmond Memorial High School! We had such a good day! After graduation the whole family, including an old family friend, went to Rococo’s for lunch! It was a fancy little Italian place. We then went home to relax because at 9:30 that night we watched our favorite basketball team, the OKC Thunder, beat the LA Lakers in game 4 of the playoffs! It was a great day and congratulations to Ryan! I can’t wait to have you at OU with me next year!!

I love you Ryan! Congratulations!
